Young Women Theme Song

Mosiah 18:9

When I was a Beehive, one of my favorite parts of Girl’s Camp was when we would sit around the campfire and sing songs together. It seemed like we always started with the loud, obnoxious and silly songs, then transitioned into some softer, sweeter songs, and finally turned to singing beautiful, spiritual, soul-piercing, testimony building songs. It seemed like one of the older girls always had a guitar or a ukulele and they would sing the most beautiful harmonies and teach all of us younger girls with such patience and love. (Trisha Stokes and Mindy Loosli were my heroes back then, and I don’t think a young girl could have had two better role models.) I remember they taught us a song that went with the words to the Young Women theme, but as I grew older, I couldn’t find a copy of it anywhere. The theme had also changed slightly since then, and I decided to take the bits and pieces of the song I could remember from those girl’s camp sing-alongs and write an arrangement of the theme. Now the Young Women’s theme has been changed significantly, and while I love the changes (and will have to write a new arrangement to match those new, beautiful words), this version of the theme, and the melody that lives in my head when I recite it, will always have a special place in my heart.

We are daughters of our Heavenly Father
Who loves us and we love Him.
We will stand as witnesses of God at all times
And in all things, And in all places.

As we strive to live the Young Women values
Which are Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth,
Knowledge, Choice and Accountability,
Good Works, Integrity and Virtue

We are daughters of our Heavenly Father
Who loves us and we love Him.
We will stand as witnesses of God at all times
And in all things, And in all places.
